Mountain City Weather Center (MCWC) continues to be the go-to weather source for Mountain City and Johnson County residents, and through the detailed weather discussions (particularly, long range weather outlooks) has become very popular through the entire southeast region. In fact, the popular weather web site delivered hits to every state in the nation during 2007, registering over 500,000 page views per month.

Bill McMillan created Mountain City Weather Center in December of 2003, and serves as the website's Chief Weatherman. Bill's love of weather began during the Superstorm of 1993. At the time, Bill lived in Auburn, AL when the storm roared up the East Coast, dumping snow from the beaches of Florida to Maine. In particularly, the Blizzard of 1993, dumped an impressive nine inches of the white stuff on this southeastern Alabama city. During the summer of 1995, Bill moved to Mountain City. Bill's favorite weather is snow and any other type of winter weather, however, other extreme weather events fascinate him as well, some of which include: thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods. Ever since the Blizzard of 1993, Bill began doing weather research and studying numerous forecast models. A 2007 graduate of East Tennessee State University, Bill majored in Mass Communications, with a broadcasting concentration. Bill interned at WCYB-TV from spring of 2005 until the spring of 2006, working with the sports and weather department.

Despite all of the hours spent in the office, studying different forecast models and preparing each day's forecast, Bill enjoys working out, hanging with friends, and spending time with family. Growing up in Auburn, AL, Bill claims to be the World's biggest Auburn Tiger fan. During football season, Bill's week is filled with lost sleep, stomach medicine (for the more important games), and just an overall excitement for the upcoming football game. Bill's and MCWC.com's forecast can be heard Monday-Friday on WMCT AM 1390, and can be found weekly in The Tomahawk. When asked about future goals of MountainCityWeatherCenter.com, Bill says "We hope to continue to deliver a forecast people of Mountain City and Johnson County can depend on. None of our success thus far would be possible without our viewers and for that I'm truly thankful. We have plans on added services in the future, not only to Mountain City Weather Center, but also to a weather website for the Tri-Cities region." That website is www.weatherteam.net.

Brandon Massey joined MCWC.com during the Spring of 2008, and is the newest member of the crew. Growing up in western TN, Brandon enjoyed getting to "live" through numerous tornado and severe weather outbreaks. It was this that sparked his interest in weather and his love of storm chasing.

Mr. Massey anchors MCWC's newest viewer-interactive feature in the "Talkin' WX And Stuff" Podcast. He also serves as the chief photographer for the website, typically capturing severe weather events across the state. Some of his recent photo albums include the massive tornado outbreak that struck western and middle TN in early February, with Union University particularly hard hit. Brandon also photographed the horrific flooding event along the banks of the Mississippi River this spring.

Set to graduate from East Tennessee State University with a BS degree in Criminal Justice this December, Brandon also enjoys hunting, fishing, working out, and just relaxing and "shooting the breeze" with good friends in his spare time! Brandon says "nothing can beat taking in a baseball game on a summer evening!" Growing up in the greater Memphis area, Brandon also claims to be the biggest Memphis basketball fan in the world! Joe Reedy joined MCWC.com during the spring of 2006. Joe grew up in Erwin TN. and is a 2005 graduate of Unicoi County. He become fascinated with the weather at a young age, during the 1993 blizzard, which sparked his enthusiasm for meteorology. During his high school years, he was the founder of an American Meteorological Pre-College Chapter, for Unicoi County. Nationally there were only six other active pre-college chapters. Just to name a few activities, the club organized community outreach fundraisers for tsunami and hurricane victims and also took school visits to elementary schools, educating young ones on the importance of weather safety. Also, since the age of 13, Joe has been the Unicoi County weather watcher for WJHL - TV and has provided the weekly weather article in the Erwin Record Newspaper for a couple of years. Joe is now a Junior at Lyndon State College, (L.S.C.). Lyndon State is located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and has been named the number one college for both broadcasting and meteorology students. During Joe's career at Lyndon State, he has been an active member of the Lyndon State College AMS & NWA and served as the 06'-07' Community Outreach Officer, which is responsible for organizing the largest student-run conference, the annual Northeastern Storm Conference. He also works for the Department of Student Life as a Resident Assistant for first year students; he tries to make the transition ride for incoming college students enjoyable and uphold a positive community at the college. Joe plans to graduate Lyndon with his degree in Meteorology/Broadcasting and would like to come back to this area and work at a local news channel.

Joe serves as the Boating and Lake Weather forecaster for MCWC, as well as the co-primary weather specialist for WeatherTeam.net. Joe enjoys forecasting the weather for the southern Appalachians, especially during the winter months when it can often be a challenge for our mountains. He likes to pinpoint areas he may think might be under the gun. Joe tends to bring a lighter more comic side to the site, while Bill gets "heated" on the talk of Global Warming. When Joe isn't chasing a thunderstorm / snowstorm, he enjoys nature photography and is a huge fan of the great outdoors, "Thats where it all happens!"

Josh Burleson contributes his photoshop skills to all the banner advertisements you see on mountaincityweathercenter.com and weatherteam.net. When someone chooses to do business with us, Josh will take whatever the client has in my mind and represent it in their ad, just the way the client wants their business to be represented.

Josh is currently employed at Citadel Broadcasting where he does part-time work on 104.9 The Peak and 101.5 WQUT. Be sure to listen for “J-Street!” Josh is also the owner of TriCitiesNights.com, your #1 source for everything Night-Life in the Tri-Cities! He is a 2006 graduate of East Tennessee State University with a degree in Broadcasting and minor in Appalachian Studies. During his time at ETSU, Josh managed the campus radio station and was an intern for MRN Radio. Josh was awarded the 2005-06 Broadcasting Student of the Year, the Communications Department Max Marshall Leadership award and the Smith WCYB-TV Scholarship.

When not busy with his many projects, Josh enjoys researching his family genealogy and the regional history of the Tri-Cities. He is an avid NASCAR & Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan and prides himself on having a copy of almost every song ever recorded. Of course, he also enjoys the weather!
