MCWC's One To Two Day Weather Discussion: (Extended Discussion Below)

Bill's Fifth Annual Winter Outlook Is Now Available. Click Here For The Details.

"System" Snow This Morning Shifts To "Upslope" Snow This Evening. . .Snow began mixing with rain shortly after the midnight hour for most neighborhoods and the predominant precipitation type across the county this morning is now snow. Multiple upper level disturbances will keep widespread snow showers in our forecast through the morning hours before we see a "lull" in the activity during the early to mid afternoon. Finally, once we move into the evening and overnight hours, our winds will shift initially from what will be an unfavorable southwesterly low level direction to a much more favorable northwesterly low level direction.

Temperatures today and Tuesday will remain WELL below average. We've already seen our high for today and look for steady temperatures for the better portion of the day before falling below freezing this evening. Gusty winds will continue today and tonight, producing areas of blowing snow.

Tuesday will get off to a snowy start with snow showers continuing through the morning hours before giving way to flurries by noon and clearing afternoon skies. Temperatures should climb just above freezing Tuesday afternoon, but we'll have to watch for quick re-freezing that will take place Tuesday evening.

Concerning our expected accumulations around the county, most folks will experience a general one to three inch type snowfall, although a few "lucky" folks will accumulate four to seven inches. Most of these "lucky" folks will live in the Trade, Forge Creek, or Stone Mountain communities. Please keep those snow reports and weather photos coming to billsweather@hotmail.com. As always, your reports are GREATLY appreciated!

MCWC's Three To Seven Day Weather Discussion:

Briefly Milder. . .Temperatures will briefly "spike" to above normal readings Wednesday as we switch over to a southwesterly air flow out ahead of our next cold front. Clouds will be on the increase Wednesday afternoon along with a gusty southwesterly breeze. A few rain showers are possible Wednesday night-Thursday morning as the front blows through.

Much Colder. . .A much colder air mass will build into the southern Appalachians by late week as the front blows to our south and east. Otherwise, after the threat of a couple of early morning showers Thursday, skies look partly cloudy with well below normal temperatures. (For Mtn. City the normal high would be in the upper 40s with a low in the middle 20s). A new disturbance could offer some weekend snow showers to the mountains. That said, we have some "conflicting" model data at this time, so the weekend forecast is one of "lower than normal" confidence at this point.

"Great site! I can always count on an accurate forecast before we pack the truck to head your way!"

MCWC's ShowCast

Heritage Hall Theatre Presents:

My Three Angels; Community Theatre's '08 Christmas Production @ Heritage Hall: Dec. 5 and 6 @ 7 and Dec. 7 @ 2:30

At this early stage in the game, weather conditions look cold, but mostly dry for the Christmas Production. You'll certainly need that Christmas sweater or coat as temperatures remain well below normal, along with a gusty northwesterly breeze.
